USA : Part 1 - Islands and Mountains [Picture gallery]

A detailed description of this month long trip would have to wait but right now I can just post few pictures which will do justice to the theme of this album. "Islands and Mountains of USA"

A brief, nevertheless, is here :

The month long backpacking across the Eastern USA took me through . myriad of landscapes, geaographical wonders, metropolis, theme parks, heritage sites and wilderness. This is 1st in the series covering Outerbanks and Smokies.
Outerbanks is a 320 kms long string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of mainland USA, protruding in the Atlantic Ocean and famous for man's 1st journey into the sky in the Wright Brothers air craft
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site straddles between the states of Tennessee and North Carolina

I hope you'll enjoy this album. Stay tuned for more. And please send in your feedback and comments which would motivate me to work harder on my blog.

This is the point where two major Atlantic currents collide, namely the southerly-flowing cold water Labrador Current and the northerly-flowing warm water Florida Current (Gulf Stream). The collision of two major currents creates turbulent waters and a large expanse of shallow sandbars extending up to 14 miles (23 km) offshore. These shoals are known as Diamond Shoals.

The White Realm of Annapurna [Photo Gallery] - Incomplete*

Trek route : Annapurna circuit - The trek begins at Besisahar or Bhulbhule in the Marshyangdi river valley and concludes in the Kali Gandaki Gorge.
A quick recap : The Annapurna Circuit is a popular name for a trek within the Annapurna mountain range of central Nepal. The total length of the route varies between 160–230 km (100-145 mi), depending on where the motor transportation is used and where the trek is ended. The trek rises to an altitude of 5,400m on the Thorung La pass, touching the edge of the Tibetan plateau. This trek crosses two different river valleys(Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki) and encircles the Annapurna massif, crossing Thorung La (5416m), the highest pass on this trek.

yes, I had no business shoveling snow over there, its just for the pose @ Yak Kharka [altitude : 4100 metres]

Our dining table in the home-stay's verandah got covered under snow, so then it was an indoor meal @ Yak Kharka, alt : 4100 metres
