Day 1

July 2nd

End of the Suspense : Beginning of another Journey

The entire route was laced with such big and small waterfalls

Finally, the suspense got over and we left Bhadravati on the afternoon of 2nd july for Mangalore via Shimoga. I dozed off in the bus and got up only when the bus was passing through the awsome Agumbe ghat section (also known as the Cherrapunji of South- receiving highest rainfall in south). Besides Agumbe has the honor of being capital of King Cobras with highest density of snakes. On a clear day, one can see the sun setting over the Arabian Sea though the sea is at quite a distance from Agumbe. 

Anyways, through the thick monsoons clouds we descended from the Majestic, forested Western ghats to the coastal Planes of Karnataka and our bus resumed the journey to Mangalore.



Kasargod via Mangalore
Our plan was to enter Kerala through Mangalore and have a night halt at Kasargod town(Northernmost district of Kerala). And so without wasting  any time in Mangalore, we proceeded ahead.

Aayush was almost on the verge of fainting out of shock and excitement when he realised that he'll be entering Kerala. [I and Apurv had already visited Wayanad, Kerala 2 weeks ago during our Ooty-Wayanad ((for our Wayanad trip click here)) trip in the 4th week, so we were a notch more normal]  I, Aayush and Bisen continued our regular fighting in the over-crowded bus as the 3 of us had managed place on a 2-seat bench and were killing each other for getting a bit more space than the other with verbal abuses flying loudly in the air. (our assumption was that poor mallu ppl- they wont understand our Hindi curses). Time went by quickly and we covered the 50 Km distance and reached Kasargod.

Channa Masala & Victoria
I had my decent veg meal of Channa Masala(this dish seems to be the only one which the Northies and Mallus like alike). Soon we were too tired to think of anything else and began our tedious job of finding a decent/reasonable lodge for the night.Our search ended at Victoria Tourist home just above the govt bus stand which agreed to give a double bed to the 4 of us until morning 6 AM @ Rs 250 (Rs 65 per head).

Celebrations with Cards & Tussle
We were too happy at this bargain and celebrated by playing cards in the room(the game was 29 and pro-genius like Bisen and Myself were defeated by kids like Aayush and Apurv- Lesson : never underestimate the underdogs). And then began the tussle for a reasonable place on the bed. 4 grown ups and a small double bed(besides fighting for charging point for mobile). Imagine the fight for a place to lie down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
